Great cricket year! In the last two months, we had a lot of activities in the Cricket Section. I want to share with all USRC members, the achievements of the Section during this period.

Our under-17 cricket team again won in the Hong Kong Under-17 Social League. They played against KCC under-17, and won the match easily, smashing KCC badly. We won the toss and elected to bat first. From the first ball, USRC team were in attacking mode and they scored 261 runs with the help of Awais (78 runs not out), Captain Asim (41 runs), Javed (37 runs) and Bilal (40 runs). After this, when KCC started to bat, right from the first ball, USRC-17 were in attacking mode and the KCC team were all out for 113 runs due to very disciplined bowling of our youngsters. Asim Hussain was the hero in bowling and he took 5 wicket /21 runs. Hamza Jawaid and Bilal took one wicket each. What a wonderful win by USRC. Hats off to them. Hope they will be able to repeat the performance in all the future games. At this moment, we are one more step closer to winning the Cup. Asim Hussain was the Man of the Match.

Senior team also won their first match against LSW-X Mariners with 5 wickets, in the Hong Kong Social League. This match was played on 8 April, under the captaincy of Ravi Chopra. USRC won the toss and invited LSW-X for batting. Every bowler did a great job, especially Ankur (3 wickets/14 runs) and Prateek (2 wickets/13 runs), and LSW-X were all out for 145 runs. In the second half, our openers had a good start and later, our captain Ravi Chopra smashed 45 runs for 15 balls. Prateek (30 runs) and Ankur (25 runs) also did a great job to win this match. We will have the second match very soon and the senior team wish to win all matches of this season to take USRC Cricket to a higher level. Ravi Chopra (Captain) was announced Man of the Match.

Coach Ilyas Gull is working very hard with players of every age group and he is doiing his best for USRC Cricket. The positive results in the last six months are proof of his hard work and commitment and growth of USRC Cricket would have been very difficult without his help. Senior teams are continually practicing every Thursday and Saturday under his direction, and junior team are practising on Wednesdays. Any member of USRC can join these practice sessions. Please contact to Mr Gull with any questions you may have regarding this.

Once again, I thank USRC General Committee for providing very high class cricket facilities for the members and we hope our cricketers will make Club proud.

Have fun!
