Annual Club Championship
The club annual championship is still underway and the final day will be on the 21 February. This year the number of entries was slightly higher than last year. I noticed that most members still preferred playing in doubles and mixed doubles rather than singles. I guess this is quite normal as most of us are not getting younger these days and we need a partner to cover the other half of the court! Perhaps we need to attract more young members and players in future. But it was good to see some veterans still preyed their skills in this annual championship.
For the first time in the club’s history, the men’s and ladies’ singles champions came from the same family. The father, Mr Edward Lau, won the men’s singles while his daughter, Ms. Serena Lau, won the ladies’ singles. They are also in the mixed doubles semi final and it will be interesting to see if they can win this event as well.

The other events to be played this Sunday are men’s doubles (cup and plate) and mixed doubles (cup and plate).
I would like to thank all of you who took time to participate in this annual event. I know it’s not easy especially for those who have young children. Therefore, my thanks also extended to their families for their understanding and support.
