Black-collared Starling
Sturnus nigricollis The Black collared starling has black and white plumage with a distinctive black collar. It feeds on insects, earthworms and seeds. A very vocal bird, its calls include shrill, harsh, melodious and discordant notes, such as kraak-kraak, a whistling prrü, and a pü-pü-pü-pü. One pair was identified at the USRC and an old nest spotted near the tennis courts is likely to be reused. |
