Bowring’s Gecko
Hemidactylus bowringii The Oriental leaf-toed gecko or Bowring's gecko is a very common gecko, found throughout Hong Kong. Often seen close to lights on buildings where the gecko eats small flies including mosquitoes. Its upper side is light tan in colour with faint whitish spots that have dark edges. Some have an incomplete whitish stripe along its dorsum. The underside is generally whitish with a few scattered, dark crosslines on the tail which can be as long as the entire body. Its toes have adhesive pads which enable it to cling to all kinds of surface, even smooth glass. |
