Chinese Starling
Sturnus sinensis The Chinese or White Shouldered Starling measures around 19 cm (7½ in). It has a grey bill, blue eyes, a white patch on the shoulder and whitish underparts. Usually observed in flocks, it breeds in southern China and northern Vietnam, and winters in Southeast Asia. Although this species occurs in small numbers in winter and as a passage migrant, it is easiest to see as a breeding species in the summertime in Hong Kong. Small numbers will be seen feeding with the Black-collared Starlings and Crested Mynas. |
