3. Tangerine Tree
Citrus reticulata (柑橘) Citrus reticulata is the Tangerine tree; small, sometimes spiny but producing the highly desirable, juicy, tangerine orange. The leaves are beautifully elliptic in shape – almost like the perfect textbook leaf geometry. Both leaf and flower of Tangerine enhance our sense of smell with aromatic oil. Technically the fruit is a berry with colours ranging from orange to yellow to greenish and a loose skin that is easy to peel. Both fruit pulp and skin are useful as food and flavouring. The trunk displays an attractive mid-brown bark with a smooth texture broken only by vertical growth wrinkles. |
